Begi Guggenheim, *1977 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Lives and works in Vienna.
Begi Guggenheim’s work refers to the iconographic imagery of ancient and Christian mythologies, as well as to socio-ecological and socio-political topics. With the device of alienation and the focus on biomorphic and kinetic forms, a new look is taken on what is already known. Art composed of plaster, wood, metal, plasticine transforms into a post-futuristic everyday object, while in addition, Begi Guggenheim’s extensive graphic and painterly oeuvre reflects the artist’s stringent, obsessive aspiration.
