Martha Jungwirth, *1940 in Vienna, lives and works in Vienna and Neumarkt an der Raab.

With her poetic-abstract watercolors and oil paintings, Martha Jungwirth occupies a unique position in contemporary Austrian painting. Largely ignored by the art world until the turn of the millennium, the artist unswervingly pursued her approach between abstraction and representation. With a non-conformist approach, Marth Jungwirth places the body at the center of her works, choosing a lively color palette of fleshy pink, blood red and magenta tones while intuitively describing the surrounding space with fingerprints, scratches or shoeprints as a visceral record of her own presence in the painting.
