Jürgen Messensee is one of the leading protagonists of his generation and occupies an important place in the context of painting and drawing in Austria. Oscillating between Informal and Tachisme, nature is always central. Particular attention is paid to the female figure and its sensuality, which the artist dissolves with expressive gestures, figurative abbreviations, lines and signs alternating with naturalistic images. In recent years, Messensee has expanded his oeuvre with jet prints and their overpainting in large-scale. In this late work, the artist is once again concerned with shifting and manipulating perceptions.
