Fabian Erik Patzak investigates family stories, in particular experiences of migration and loss, as well as traces of memory which span across generations. The Austrian-American artist with Jewish roots primarily uses architectural depictions and the medium of painting, linking archived material with current socio-cultural and political events. In recent years, Patzak’s work has opened up to a variety of motifs and media, which, unlike his earlier works, are no longer based on specific formal criteria but on his respective research interests.
