Andreas Werner’s current graphic work is characterized of hybrid constructions of rockets, robots or temples, pseudo-scientific measurements of geometry, structure and construction, as well as of natural elements that appear strangely digitalized. The artist describes himself as a romantic, who translates the atmospheric ideal typical of many nature and landscape depictions of the Nineteenth Century into the present. The gloomy dust of the black graphite settles on the achievements of civilization and Andreas Werner succeeds in bringing new facets to the traditional media of drawing, while also adding socio-political relevance to his work.
